The beautiful Tungenes lighthouse sits at the gateway to the  fjord country of Rogaland and the busy harbor of Stavanger.  You can walk along the shore where delicate wildflowers grow between the rock crevices.

 
Some 365 islands make up Kvitsoy which is located at the entrance to the Boknafjorden.  This fishing village can be reached by a 40 minute ferry ride and is a perfect place for quiet bike trips and picnics.


The small coastal town of Sognalstrand had a flourishing trade in shipping and fishing until 1944.  These timber buildings from the 18th and 19th century clustered tightly on the banks above the river are being beautifully restored.  The view of the mouth of the river flowing into the North Sea is breathtaking.
